Alex Birch

Alex is a senior partner and member of the management committee at OC&C Strategy Consultants providing corporate strategy, performance and organisation enhancement and M&A support to clients across Europe, the US and Asia. In his thirty years of industry experience, Alex has developed specialisations in the consumer, media, entertainment and telecom sectors, holding non-executive directorships in the retail and business information sub-sectors. Alex graduated in Law from Cambridge and took his MBA from IMD Lausanne. Alex is a Trustee of The Conservation Foundation.

Tony van Gool

Tony is an adviser to a number of businesses across the investment, wealth and fintech industries following a career of almost 30 years, initially at Invesco and then for 20 years at Artemis Investment Management. At Artemis he played a crucial role in the award-winning manager’s wholesale distribution strategy across the UK and Europe driving a 20-fold growth in assets under management during his tenure. Tony created and developed the due diligence, governance and risk control frameworks required to support this growth, firmly establishing the manager amongst the leaders in the industry. Tony took a PhD in Materials Science at Nottingham University.

John McDonald

John is co-founder of Alternative Research and director of Arlington Capital. John was co-founder of BACIT which later became Syncona the UK-listed biotechnology investment trust and previously a non-executive director of Hanson Asset Management, the UK multi-family office. Prior to this John served as director of Impax Asset Management, the specialist environmental impact investment manager and as a director in the Alternative Investments division at New Star Asset Management. John graduated from the European Business School before starting his career with Morgan Grenfell in London.

Richard Nunneley

Richard served as director of Mercury Asset Management, Cazenove and then Singer & Friedlander, and sat on the LSE Investment Sub-Committee and Grosvenor Finance and Investment Committee. Currently, Richard serves as Chairman of Impact Investment Partners, Illyrian Land Funds and as an adviser to Floreat, the multi-family office. Prior to his career in investment, Richard served in the Armed Forces as Colonel of his regiment.

Charlie Metcalfe

Charlie started his investment career with JP Morgan followed by Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs and, as Deputy CEO, at Hermes Investments. Charlie subsequently assumed CEO roles at First State and Nikko Asset Management. Charlie holds non-executive directorships  with Perspective Investments and Wilton Real Estate Capital and other advisory roles in private equity and corporate finance. Charlie is a graduate of Yale University and a director of a Sainsbury Family charitable trust and the Institute of Imagination.
